Chris has been with Centinel Bank of Taos since 2004. He’s been working with and processing loans ever since. Chris knows that borrowing money can be a nerve-wracking experience that’s why he works hard to make his clients feel at ease during the process while still educating them on their decision.
He likes working in loans at Centinel Bank because he has the opportunity to help people achieve their dreams “It always challenges me to think outside the box to find solutions. I find I am always learning something new. It is gratifying to see people be able to purchase their dream home, build a home, purchase a business or buy a property for their business.” Chris also enjoys working with his co-workers and colleagues at the bank.
Chris has a Bachelor of Science in Science Technology and Globalization and a minor in International Business. He has also graduated from Graduate School of Banking at Colorado.
Born and raised in Taos County Chris enjoys living where he grew up, but he especially likes the climate and the mountains of Northern New Mexico.

Vanessa began her career at the bank in 2015 as a teller and quickly demonstrated her dedication and skill, advancing to a loan coordinator within just one year.
She then served as a credit analyst, where she excelled in underwriting loans and analyzing financials for prospective clients. In 2023, Vanessa was promoted to loan officer, bringing nine years of specialized experience in the loan department. With a strong passion for lending, Vanessa thrives on the unique challenges each transaction presents. She is committed to delivering exceptional customer service, fostering lasting relationships with clients, and effectively addressing their individual needs. Vanessa takes great pride in contributing to the community she grew up in, ensuring that each client feels valued and supported throughout the lending process. A proud native of Taos, NM, Vanessa is a graduate of the Texas Tech School of Banking. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys working out, reading and spending quality time with her family.
Marcus chavez

Marcus has built a successful banking career spanning more than 13 years. He began his journey in banking in 2013 as a student intern in the Operations Department at Centinel Bank of Taos. After gaining valuable experience, he spent nine years with another local financial institution, where he served in a variety of roles including Teller, Customer Service Representative, Teller Manager, Assistant Bank Manager, and AVP/Branch Manager.
In late 2024, Marcus returned to Centinel Bank of Taos and joined the Loan Department. He was promoted to Loan Officer in 2025.
As a lifelong member of the Taos community, Marcus is passionate about helping individuals, families, and businesses achieve their financial goals. He takes pride in building meaningful relationships and providing personalized lending solutions that help turn dreams into reality. Marcus believes that community banking is about more than transactions, it's about trust, service, and supporting the people who make the community strong.

Outside of the bank, Marcus enjoys spending time with his wife and children and takes great pride in being a father. He is also actively involved in the community, volunteering as a coach for local youth sports programs and supporting the next generation of Taos County residents.
